MARC EMCR Policy Workshop
Online
Do you want to learn more about public policy and how your research can inform evidence based policy and practice?
In this free workshop, we'll cover what public policy is and how you can translate your research findings in a way that makes it accessible to policymakers. Participants will also engage in a group exercise to translate the results of an academic paper into a short pitch to policymakers through the CPR model: Context, Problem, Response.
Workshop facilitator
Jonathan Meddings is a public policy professional working to advance the health and human rights of under-served and diverse communities. He has led the development of several alcohol and other drug / addiction policy positions on subjects including drug safety testing and decriminalisation, and recently joined Turning Point and the Monash Addiction Research Centre as their Policy and Engagement Manager. Jonathan has worked with others to successfully advocate for legislative and service system reform and funding, including advocacy to obtain election commitments, the Embracing Equality campaign to improve LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing, and the passing of legislation enabling voluntary assisted dying and banning conversion practices in Victoria.
